Where to start?

The idea for Your Neighbour's Garden came about a couple of years ago while having a discussion with my husband, over a cup of tea.  I wanted to share some of my skills, knowledge and interests with others, to provide opportunities to work with a garden and the rewards that it can give. The garden has not only provided our family with food, but also a quiet place to be when the trials of our busy world become too much.  Well those ideas have sat there until the opportunity came to make it more substantial, more real.

At the end of 2022 my autoimmune disease decided it was time to really make itself known.  This resulted in the most debilitating fatigue, which made it impossible to work full-time in my fantastic job at the local Hospice.  After hoping and trying to maintain my job for the next 8 months it became apparent that I was not getting better and that it was time to move on to something else.  It wasn't fair to the Hospice or myself to continue in my role there, despite fantastic support from my employer and work mates.

So here we are.  My theory is that I need to use my limited energy toward something that I am very passionate about. Roll on Your Neighbour's Garden.  It has been a slow journey that I work in around my fatigue.  However, I am looking forward to seeing what the 2024 - 2025 season has in store for me.  Check in to see how the garden is coming along, when it is open to the public and what we can offer you.
