And we have gone live!

This website has been a long time coming. I managed to get so far with my lack of any technical computer skills and then roped in my second youngest child Celeste, to help me out. There is still a lot of work to do but at least now we have somewhere to keep everyone updated. I will admit, the phone version is not quite as sharp as I would like it to be, but hey, we are under way.

Watch us as we grow and achieve new goals and provide more interesting and exciting opportunities going forward.

Other news this week

  • New on the Stall
    • we have pears on the stall at $4.00kg.

    • Our lovely bunny candles will be on the stall by Wednesday. The perfect gift for those who don't want chocolate.

  • What to do in the garden
    • With all this rain I hope everyone has their water barrels ready. Plants do prefer natural water without the extra chemicals in it. At Your Neighbour's Garden we have water barrels off both the greenhouse and the chicken coop. The spouting off both those building have had new spouting attached to make this successful. While there is no actual proof that the council will at some point start charging us for the water we use, I do think it will happen. There is no point in wasting this wonderful resource that we get here in NZ when we can easily capture it for gardening use.

    • Thursday morning tea - here at 147 Glenpark Avenue, Maryhill, Dunedin this week. Given that it is going to be Easter on Friday and then ANZAC day I am making my husbands favourite Cheese cake, lemon with an anzac biscuit base. We will also make most of the time to plant some flanders poppies to take home and enjoy. This is the perfect time to plant poppies for a lovely show next spring. This is free - come and see what we are up to.

    • We are creating a new rose garden so you will see this underway if you are around the garden this week. Of course the roses aren't here yet so it will give us some time to get it right.

    • it is a great time to continue to plant brassica's, and lettuce for winter. I find we don't get too cold here and the lettuces seem to do fine over winter. My preferred winter greens are Cavolo Nero, Rainbow Silverbeet and Perpetual Spinach. Perpetual spinach is actually a form of silverbeet but doesn't have the big white spine that other normal silverbeet has. Cavolo Nero is great in lasagna as it holds its shape well and is very tasty. It is my preferred Kale. All the others just remind me of what we used to feed the cows.
